"When I say that the Bible, like human life, is fundamentally story, I’m not making any claims about fact or fiction. What I’m saying is that reading the Bible to try to discern fact from fiction is missing the point. Reading the Bible to pull out laws for this and that is missing the point. The Bible is an invitation to relationship with the characters we read about.
